The protests on US college campuses started to slow after Thursday night’s crackdown. These protests, unlike others in recent years, like George Floyd, did not see a spillover.
If the protests really fall off over the next several days the comparison to “1968” will prove to be completely wrong. The real question that should be asked is Are these protests like those in 1968 or 2020? Are these people willing to give everything for the cause?
That’s because those protests did not stop even after deaths occurred. Arresting 2,000 people on one night was enough to destroy the momentum.
Congress is currently working on a bill, passed by the House, that defines antisemitism. If it passes, I will continue to write about it. Regardless the leaders failed to educate the students who were protesting on what antisemitism is and the meanings behind certain phrases.
Only time will tell if these protests last.
I doubt that in the long term the protests are going to affect the 2024 election outcome. This is simply because the election is in November so many things will happen that will matter more.
As a whole the protests have failed to gain traction and affect anything. which makes all that pointless in totality.
